The first featured collection of pihas belonged to Mr. Jerry Alferes and may be the biggest private collection in existence. He had over 100 quality examples in his possession. He had many pihas with fluted wood & silver sheaths, still in fine condition. My thanks to him for sharing. Note: the bulk of this collection is now owned by Oriental Arms (with a few exceptions that picked up!).

The following pihas are from the collection of Vandoo (Barry)from the Ethnographic Edged Weapons Forum. One of the pihas featured here is very unique in that it has a bronze blade. Please read Barry's comments below:
| "I have included the bronze bladed one by itself in 2 photos. It has very old hippo ivory for a handle. The others have steel blades and old ivory, possibly sperm whale teeth. It is the material that I haven't really been able to identify for sure yet. One has an ivory handle that has a nice patina but you can still tell its elephant ivory. There are also close-ups of the designs on the blades. " |

These are just a few pihas owned by Mr. de Silva and they are excellent examples. I'll try to add more of his collection soon. Thanks for contributing.
